DayOne partners with Malaysia’s TNB to lead green energy adoption in data center industry

DayOne announced on October 11 the signing of MOU with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia’s largest electricity utility, for the purchase and supply of green energy and to explore innovative solutions for DayOne data centers.
This partnership leverages TNB’s expertise in delivering green energy solutions to power DayOne data centers with renewable sources such as solar energy from large-scale solar farms, hybrid hydro-floating solar, rooftop solar, as well as battery energy systems and EV charging facilities.
These initiatives will enable DayOne to reduce its environmental impact while leading the data center industry with AI-ready, sustainable infrastructure.
Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne, commented: “As a market leader, DayOne has the responsibility to drive the data center industry toward a sustainable future. A pivotal highlight of our progress in Malaysia is our partnership with TNB. This MOU will enable us to explore the large-scale deployment of renewable energy sources. By integrating green energy into our operations, we’re not only reducing our carbon footprint but setting a new standard for data center services.”
TNB President and CEO, Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin Bin Megat Hassan, said, "DayOne, a key partner, has already benefited from TNB’s exclusive Green Lane Pathway, which offers fast-track electricity connections three times faster than usual. We are grateful for the trust placed by DayOne in TNB to supply electricity and are excited about today’s MoU. Together, we are working toward a brighter, more sustainable future in support of the growing digital economy."
Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), remarked, "This achievement not only solidifies Malaysia’s position as a leading digital hub in the region but also highlights DayOne’s commitment to sustainable solutions, including renewable energy initiatives. As Malaysia advances towards its net-zero aspirations, aligned with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the Green Investment Strategy (GIS), MIDA remains dedicated to supporting DayOne’s growth and ensuring these investments contribute to our shared sustainability goals."
